Social services nonprofit expands with new Venice location

After seeing an uptick in need throughout the Venice area, JFCS of the Suncoast opened the new location in response.

VENICE — The new JFCS of the Suncoast Venice location officially opened April 1 at 2167 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice.

The organization is based in Sarasota but serves clients throughout six counties as a mental health counseling and human services provider. The new office will expand services in Venice and North Port after the organization noticed a growing need for assistance in those areas.

“During the course of providing services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw that an increasing number of clients came to us from south Sarasota County, specifically from Venice, North Port and Englewood,” says Stacy Lang, JFCS chief of behavioral health services, in a news release. “This new office will allow us to meet our clients where they are and to continue to provide quality mental health and human services to the growing community.”

The Venice location will provide mental health counseling, caregiver meetings, relationship classes, community education, homelessness prevention, bereavement support groups, financial assistance, as well as other human services that are similarly offered at the organization’s other locations within Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties.

“We are thrilled to be opening a new office in Venice,” Lang says. “This will allow us to expand our work with children, teens, adults and seniors in a variety of ways to help empower our clients to live full, healthy lives."

The expansion comes a month after the social services nonprofit announced it was beginning a national search for a permanent president/CEO. The search is expected to take six to eight months.
